This journal is devoted to sedimentology and allied sciences. Each issue has 5-25 feature articles and a few other shorter pieces such as reviews, announcements, and activities. The articles are detailed, with references, charts, diagrams, maps and photos. I have listed only a few of the study locations, not the subjects ... less than half of the articles are represented in my listings for the oldest issues. Many libraries have complete bibliographies of articles with all locations and subjects if you need more specifics, or ask me. Published by the Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists (Society for Sedimentary Geology), a division of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Over the years, the journal has changed size, volumes/year, journal name and publishing societies. Prior to 1985, there wers 4 issues per year, with an index to the volume in number 4 of that volume. From 1985 to 1993, there were 6 issues per year, with an index to the volume in number 6 of that volume. ONLY in 1991, a switch was made to 7 issues per year, with the index moving to issue number 7. Starting in 1994, it changed names again and split into two volumes (sections A and B above), each published four times per year. Through 1984, the journal was 9.5x7" with about 300-400 pages per issue. Starting in 1985, the journal was 8.5x11" with about 150 pages per issue.

Condition: These journals are clean inside and many issues have a small name or stamp on the front cover. The newer issues (back through 1985) are in good condition with lightly rubbed covers and some mildly bumped corners. Older issues are generally in the same condition, but May also have lightly faded or darkened spines, some light soil or check March ks on cover, and darkened edges to the page block. A few have a faint musty smell that fades when they are removed from tightly closed storage. Please ask if you want more a detailed description for any given issue.
