Used NEW YORK and VERMONT Topographic maps for sale – USGS

Alphabetically by quadrangle name regardless of state. These maps are of various scales as noted in listing. 15" maps are a discontinued series. 1:62,500. (1. inch = 1. mile), 17x22" sheet size.The maps are now flat but have creases from being folded. They are unmarked except for minor ownership marks or stamps in the lower margin. They are all in Good condition and may have light soil on some of the creases. Any minor soil can be eliminated or much reduced with careful application of an eraser. Use an iron on low heat to minimize crease lines if you wish to frame one of these.

Topography generally stays the same over time, but older maps may include features (such as ruins) not on current maps, and also help illustrate (when compared with newer maps) town growth, road development, changes in river courses, forest cover, lake boundaries, glacial extent, land use and such. Edition date is the date the map was created and reflects the state of towns, roads and such in that year. Later printings are re-printings of the same map edition, the thickness of lines and the area and tone of green may have changed with the printing, but the map coverage is the same.

Central Park Quadrangle (Topograhic) New York, New Jersey. 1966 Edition, 1972 printing. 7.5” map, Scale 1:24,000. Flat, never folded. Shows this area of New York City as it was in 1966. $28

Haverstraw Quadrangle (Topographic), New York. 1943 Edition, First printing. Says it is a 7.5” map, but is a smaller sheet than other 7.5” maps, and lists scale as 1:31,680 instead of the 1:24,000 which is usual for 7.5” maps. Coverage includes New City, Rockland Lake, Croton Point, Harmon, Pink Lake Park, Montrose, Tomkins Cove and more. Lovely old style, a neat historic map showing the area as it was in 1922. Once folded, folds mildly soiled. $28
