Used UTAH Topographic maps for sale – U.S.G.S.

Unless otherwise noted, these are all 15” maps. The few maps of other scales are marked in bold.

15" maps are a discontinued series. 1:62,500. (1 inch = 1 mile), 17x22" sheet size.
All are FLAT, most are unmarked or have minor ownership marks or stamps in the lower margin.

15" topo maps are on a smaller sheet and show a larger area than the more common 7.5” topo maps, and are great for studying the features of a larger region or for framing. Four 7.5" sheets cover the area shown on a single 15" sheet. Both series (15” and 7.5”) show roads, trails, wells, springs, hot springs, ruins, mines, aqueducts, radioactive waste sites and much more. The word between (Topographic) and the year is the COUNTY name where available. If no county name is given, the map encompasses more than one county.

Some are the most current version issued, others are earlier versions. Topography generally stays the same over time, but older maps may include features (such as ruins) not on current maps, and also help illustrate (when compared with newer maps) town growth, road development, changes in river courses, forest cover, lake boundaries, glacial extent, land use and such.

The date is the edition date.  "1st Printing" means First printing of that edition. Others are later printings of the same edition, the thickness of lines and the area and tone of green may have changed with the printing, but the map coverage is the same.  I noticed that more maps were added to the 15” series over the years, so adjoining map names may not have appeared on some sheets but show on others.  There are some duplicates, as marked.

Tintic Mining District, Utah (Topographic map). 1913 First Printing, Scale 1:9600. This includes Eureka, Mammoth, Robinson, Silver City and surrounding area. An extremely rare original early map. (Generally in very nice condition, but has two horizontal folds near the center of the map about two inches apart. One of them is split 6” in from either end. Careful application of acid-free mending tape on the back of the map would make the split invisible. The folds do not intersect any of the townsites. The margin edges have a few small chips or tears, nothing bad.) $124
